The Indian Youth Dance Company was established by Pia Sutaria to facilitate high-level cultural exchanges for young dancers in India, providing them with opportunities typically found only on the international stage. Our core mission is to offer these dancers who are developing their artistic versatility, experiences of global excellence. The Indian Youth Dance Company was born out of the Institute of Classical and Modern Dance which was formed to fill the void of a vocational education for young and passionate dancers in India.

We are dedicated to creating a platform for young Indian dancers, many of whom travel abroad for advanced studies in the arts, to engage with international standards of artistic achievement. This initiative aims to connect leading choreographers, both domestic and international, with the Indian Youth Dance Company and its emerging talent.

Most recently, IYDC danced alongside some of India’s most established professional artists at the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre as a part of Origins – an evening celebrating India’s most exceptional dance talent. IYDC premiered with A Mixed Bill at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Center which was followed by an invitation to perform at two internationally acclaimed venues in London – The Place and the Royal Academy of Dance headquarters, UK. We toured with our latest work Sukshma choreographed by Neeraj Lohani, a contemporary work celebrating Indian and Western culture. The company has also performed at Art Mumbai and Sanctuary Asia at the NCPA, and was the recipient of the G5a Warehouse Performance Grant. Moreover, IYDC has built a diverse portfolio including opening performances for leading brands like Coach, Schwarzkopf, Westside, the opening of India Couture Week, Nilaya for Asian Paints, and Falguni Shane Peacock. Recently, IYDC had the opportunity to collaborate with the Taylor School (NYC), and performed an excerpt inspired by Paul Taylor’s iconic work Changes staged by Richard Chen See and Amanda Stevenson of the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the esteemed Jamshed Bhabha Theatre.
